My name is Oliver Grimes, and I am a 22 year old musician. I have been creating music for 17 years of my life, ever since my mother taught me to play the piano at the age of 5. I grew up surrounded by classical music, and many hours were spent learning, or trying to learn, piano pieces that were often far outside of my ability. Eventually though, my technical capacity on the piano began to align with my mind’s ear, gradually molding me into the musician I am today. Outside of music, I am currently pursuing a degree in mathematics, following a long standing passion for the sciences. People often ask me what I intend to use this degree for, to which I often reply, “I don’t know.” Musicians do not tend to be wealthy, excluding a select few, so I might use it to put food on the table, whilst I attempt to further my musical pursuits. Currently, I love playing anything that comes to mind on the piano, whether it be a classical piece, a jazz standard, or a random motif I hear in my head. I am also constantly exploring other avenues to produce music, attempting to play other instruments, or using my computer. I love music for its own sake, and I hope I can impart this passion unto my students
